* The Acura MDX has been completely redesigned for 2014. Acura engineers have refined its sophisticated curves using the wind tunnel, and now the MDX is 17 percent more aerodynamically efficient than before.   • Great value for midsize SUV

    Its not quite a BMW, Mercedes, Audi, etc in terms of driving dynamics or interior finishing, but then again its not quite Honda Pilot, Toyota Highlander, Volkswagen Atlas, etc. What it does is straddle the difference between these cars and it does it for a great value. Tech Package AWD is the best bang for your buck although with the 2017 and 2018 including all the safety features standard along with Car Play (2018), a 46k AWD base model is a fantastic value! For 50k you get AWD Tech with most of the bells and whistles. Compared to similarly equipped luxury suvs its WAY cheaper. Drives very well, not too sporty but good enough for a kid hauling / semi sporty SUV. You wont be driving this like a Porches Cayenne so dont be confused, its not that kind of SUV but to take a corner a little faster than usual or flooring it on the on-ramp it puts a little smile on your face. Again, the value is key with this car. Interior quality is very good, the car looks pretty nice on the outside too. Finishes are nice looking, not Audi A7 nice but again, much much cheaper with equipped with similar options. 9 speed transmission is slow and cumbersome and somewhat encourages mundane driving but hit the sport button and all that changes. I wish the 7 speed dual clutch in the Hybrid was available in the non-hybrid model for more fun driving but beggers cant be choosers! For a safe, kid hauling / comfortable semi-sporty SUV, this hits the nail on the head. Yeah Id rather be driving a fully equipped Audi A7, but for 70k+, no thanks.

    I love how the power of this engine can effortlessly kick in and move you away and out of potentially dangerous situations when driving. One of the quietest transmissions I have ever owned. Switches gears and doesn't labor at doing it. Braking is sometimes a bit grabby. I don't know if this has to do with the type of ride that you can select on the IDS button. Comfort of the leather seats is good and the heated seats can get warm in a hurry! Air conditioning blows as cold any brand out there. Map and display are not user friendly and not intuitive to use. Takes way too long to input your destination and map isn't the best at charting your course. Wish I could upgrade or change out to where it could use Apple maps or similar application from my cell phone. Comfort when driving is pretty good. Lumbar support could be a bit more assertive.

    This is my 3rd MDX and my experience is compared to other cars we own. They include 2019 MB E350 SUV, 2011 MB E350 cabriolet, 1988 Jeep Cherokee, 1981 Porch 911 SC. I use it as my commuting car to work and my drive is 14 miles on wonderful, curvy country road. Things I like most in comparison to the 2019 MB is the fun of driving it. Feels rock solid in the turns and has equal or better acceleration. My wife prefers the MB in regard to its comfort over irregular road surfaces. We both like the way the MDX "electronics- GPS " stuff works without as much need to take eyes off the road to find the switch or button that needs to be operated. Both cars are equipped with lane keeping steering control and adaptive cruise control. The MB does a smoother job when using the adaptive cruise control and has a better control algorithm that more smoothly adjusts the speed to suit the traffic speed of the vehicle you are following. However the MB requires the simultaneous use of lane keeping and cruise control and the two features can not be called up separately as can be done with the MDX. Automatic headlight dimming on the MB works at much lower speeds than on the MDX which I find very useful driving slowly at night on curvy roads. The biggest frustration we have with the two cars is that various functions performed, lights, shifting, windshield wipers have their actuators or stalks on opposite sides of the steering wheel which adds to lots of confusion when first starting out for a drive.
